Mo Shaolong Henan Province, China, b. 1989

Overview

Through his use and reflection of cinema4D animation and modelling software, Shaolong seeks to redefine the traditions of portraiture.

As part of a generation defined by globalisation, the Internet and digital technology, Shaolong’s work explores the contemporary individual as cyborg: a being of human-computer hybridity. As a result, his portraits attempt to capture and express the pain and confusion of human beings who are no longer fully human; unknown to themselves. Shaolong calls this human-computer hybridity “the error” and considers it the latest symptom of the complex and lengthy relationship between humans and technology. His painting are an invitation to reflect on this rapidly developing metamorphosis and the trajectory of human creativity.

Exhibitions include 'Hereditary Territory' at the Powerlong Museum, Shanghai.
