Jack Bell Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by contemporary artist Franco Ndiba. This will be the artist's second solo show with the gallery.
In Cameroonian slang where I live, the expression ‘Kongossa’, or ‘Commerage’ in French, alludes to malicious, slanderous and unfounded remarks. It means gossip on more or less insignificant subjects. In the context of this exhibition, I use the word Kongossa to make comments on the daily lives of others around me. My images are without slander, they are anonymous observations rather than judgements. I want the viewer to identify with the people in my paintings and draw their own conclusions about the environments and behaviours.

Ndiba was born in 1983 in Douala, Cameroon.
