Seydou Keita

Instituto Moreira Salles, Brazil
2018

The eponymous catalogue of the Seydou Keïta exhibition features portraits of the inhabitants of his country. In his studio, located near the Bamako train station, he recorded the expressions, clothes and tastes of visitors who passed by. Made between 1948 and 1962, images of him also show a period of transformation in Mali, when the country was moving towards its independence in 1960.
